Directions

  1. In a bowl, add the soya chunks, half a cup of warm water, and 1 tsp of salt. Mix well and allow it to soak for 5 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add jeera and hing, followed by the chopped green chilies. Sauté for about a minute.
  3. Add the chopped onions to the pan. Cook until they turn light pink.
  4. Incorporate the chopped tomatoes and cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes.
  5. Squeeze out the water from the soaked soya chunks and add them to the pan with the onions and tomatoes. Stir well and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  6. Add the boiled rice to the pan. Mix well and cook for a few minutes until everything is heated through.
  7. Sprinkle chaat masala over the rice. Add the chopped coriander leaves and squeeze in the lemon juice. Mix everything thoroughly.
  8. Serve the soya chunk fried rice hot, ideal for a hearty lunch or dinner.

  • 1 tsp jeera (cumin seeds)
  • A pinch of hing (asafoetida)
  • 2-3 green chilies, chopped

  • 2 cups tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 tbsp salt, or to taste
  • 1 tbsp chaat masala
  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves, chopped
  • Juice of half a lemon
