Descriptions

Sabudana Khichdi is a popular dish enjoyed during fasting periods. Made with tapioca pearls, peanuts, and potatoes, it’s a delightful blend of flavors and textures. This wholesome dish is quick to prepare and perfect for breakfast or a light meal.

Directions

  • Rinse the sabudana 2 to 3 times under cold water.
  • Add 1 glass of water to the washed sabudana and let it soak for 4 to 5 hours. After soaking, the sabudana should have absorbed the water and expanded.
  • In a pan, heat 1 tsp of ghee over medium heat. Add the peanuts and roast for 3 to 4 minutes until they turn a slight golden brown. Remove and set aside.
  • In the same pan, roast the diced boiled potato for 1 to 2 minutes. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  • Still using the same pan, add the remaining 1 tbsp of ghee. Stir in jeera, heeng, green chilies, and curry leaves, mixing well.
  • Return the roasted potatoes to the pan and mix.
  • Add the soaked sabudana to the pan and stir well.
  • Season with black pepper powder and salt. Mix thoroughly to combine all the ingredients.
  • Add the roasted peanuts and continue to mix.
  • Stir in the chopped coriander leaves.
  • Once everything is well combined and heated through, remove the khichdi from the heat.
  • Serve hot!
